The J.LEAGUE's on-the-ground marketing efforts in Thailand have taken an environmentally conscious spin with the rollout of club-branded electric tuk-tuks, putting Japanese football front and center on an innovative version of local transport in inner Bangkok.

18 new ‘e-tuk-tuks’ have been kitted out in J.LEAGUE club designs — one for every team in this year’s MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE — and will provide eco-friendly transport across the capital.

Coinciding with the reopening of Thai borders, locals and tourists alike will be able to call a J.LEAGUE tuk-tuk on demand via the Muvmi app, providing a classic and fully-electric way of seeing Bangkok, thus helping to reduce the carbon footprint of local transit.

The J.LEAGUE’s growth across Southeast Asia has been tremendous over the past decade, particularly in Thailand where stars like Chanathip Songkrasin, Theerathon Bunmathan, and Teerasil Dangda have attracted millions of football fans every week to watch J.LEAGUE matches.

The relationship between Thailand and the J.LEAGUE goes far beyond the field of play, though, with a series of regular activations, innovations, and social responsibility projects showcasing a profound and progressive connection across borders. From a Captain Tsubasa court refurbishment to a J.LEAGUE-themed BTS Skytrain running throughout Bangkok, the past couple seasons have seen creative displays of this cross-cultural connection.

The arrival of the 2022 season sees this link grow even stronger as the J.LEAGUE e-Tuk-Tuk Project turns heads on the roads of Bangkok and ushers in a new year of campaigns and events that engage local fans and leave a positive impact in the local community.
