J.League Chairman Mitsuru Murai on Wednesday issued the following statement in regard to the disaster which struck Brazilian club Chapecoense on Monday night in Colombia:
“My heart aches at the number of victims who have lost their lives as a result of Monday’s plane crash in Colombia, Many of our dear friends, including former J.League coaches and players, have been caught up in this accident. I can think of no sadder day that could take place. In the meantime, I want to keep my hopes up until the full details are released.”
We would like to extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the victims, their family and friends and everyone relateds to Chapecoense.
I pray that an accident like this does not occur again.”
