Asian clubs set to join J.League U-16 Challenge League

As the 2016 J.League Under-16 Challenge League continues, teams from across the J.League’s three divisions will be joined by teams representing East and Southeast Asia beginning this week.

South Korea’s Pohang Steelers, Thailand’s Chonburi FC, Vietnam’s PVF, Malaysia’s Frenz United and a squad from Cambodia’s National Football Training Centre will all face J.League sides between March 30 and April 6 in Groups 3, 5, and 6.

Co-organised by the J.League and Japan Foundation Asia Center, the tournament is intended as a chance for Japan’s youth players to develop their skills.

It will also serve as an opportunity for foreign players to experience Japanese culture and customs.
