How Vissel Kobe reached the Fujifilm Super Cup 2024

The Fujifilm Super Cup 2024 will mark the official kick-off of the 2024 Japanese football season and, crucially for the two teams involved, the chance to win the year’s first trophy.

For Vissel Kobe, it is a chance to build on what was the best year in the history of the club.

Vissel were spectacular in 2023. They were the second-highest scoring team in J1 and allowed the third-fewest goals, making them the only team in the league to rank top three in both.

Yuya Osako was the star of the league, scoring a league-leading 22 goals and capturing J1 MVP honors.

Yoshinori Muto was a tremendous dual-threat, becoming the only player in the league to hit double-digits in both goals and assists.

The result was a season that saw Vissel spend more than three-quarters of the year atop the table before clinching the very first Meiji Yasuda J1 League title in club history.

It was also a feat that earned Kobe its second trip to the Fujifilm Super Cup; they captured the 2020 edition after an absolutely epic penalty shootout.

But that was then and this is now.

The hunt for silverware renews again on February 17th when they take on Kawasaki Frontale at the Japan National Stadium in the Fujifilm Super Cup 2024, live on JLeague.co!
