This Sunday sees a heavyweight clash between Kashima Antlers and Kawasaki Frontale take center stage in a match that will be streamed live on JLeague.co and on local broadcasters across the world at 15:00 JST.

Kashima are the historic giants of the J.League, and no club has dominated in recent years quite like Kawasaki, but both teams have already seen their sky-high ambitions take a couple dents in 2024.

Following their Fujifilm Super Cup triumph over Vissel Kobe and a Matchweek 1 win against Shonan Bellmare, Frontale endured difficult losses against Júbilo Iwata and Kyoto Sanga F.C.

Antlers, meanwhile, impressed to start the season but are coming off a loss to FC Machida Zelvia last weekend.

While it's far too early for either club to hit the panic button, this weekend's face-off is an opportunity to secure a much-needed three points and stop a skid that could be highly injurious to title ambitions.

It should be an energetic affair, with both Frontale and Antlers demonstrating plenty of firepower up front from new signings; Erison has already bagged three goals in Kawasaki, while Aleksandar Čavrić demonstrated his quality in a 3-0 win over Nagoya Grampus to kick off the season.

Frontale manager Toru Oniki will be hoping his team can cope with the new Antlers frontman far better than his side did with Ryo Germain, who notched four goals for Júbilo Iwata when the visitors took all three points in a 5-4 win in Kawasaki.
