There were a trio of sides celebrating 3-0 wins in the 2025 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE on Saturday, as Yokohama F・Marinos, Nagoya Grampus, and Kyoto Sanga F.C. all emerged victorious by the same scoreline.
Yokohama F・M got off to a fast start for the second game in a row as they put FC Machida Zelvia to the sword at Machida GION Stadium, with Daiya Tono striking twice in the opening 27 minutes to give Patrick Kisnorbo’s side control of the contest.
Tono slammed in his first effort from the edge of the area after 24 minutes and doubled Yokohama F・M’s advantage three minutes later, sweeping clinically home after Yan Matheus fed him inside the area.
The icing on the cake came in the fourth minute of injury time, when Kenta Inoue drove to the byline and drilled a low cross into the area and FC Machida’s Hiroyuki Mae inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
Nagoya had to wait a little longer to open the scoring in their victory over Albirex Niigata, with Ryuji Izumi not putting them ahead until the 55th minute when he rounded Daisuke Yoshimitsu and shot through a crowd of defenders.
Nagoya’s other goals didn’t come until the late knockings, with substitute Taichi Kikuchi involved in both. First up, in the 90th minute, Kikuchi curled a sensational left-footed effort into the top corner from 25 yards out, before he turned provider two minutes later when teeing up fellow sub Yuya Yamagishi for a low strike into the bottom corner.

Kyoto’s win over FC TOKYO, meanwhile, lifted them back up into second place, thanks to goals from Sota Kawasaki, Shohei Takeda, and Masaya Okugawa.
Kawasaki set Kyoto on their way in the 32nd minute, Takeda’s measured left-foot finish doubled their advantage with 20 minutes left on the clock, and Okugawa slammed home the killer blow five minutes later.
Two-time defending champions Vissel Kobe also found the net three times on their way to victory, as they defeated Kashiwa Reysol 3-1.
Matheus Thuler headed Kobe in front in the 18th minute, and although Wataru Harada equalised eight minutes later Takahiro Ohgihara’s sensational free-kick from 30 yards out re-established Kobe’s lead five minutes before half-time. Daiju Sasaki then settled things in the 96th minute.
Elsewhere, leaders Kashima Antlers disposed of Gamba Osaka 1-0 thanks to Leo Ceara’s ninth-minute strike, Kawasaki Frontale claimed a dramatic 2-1 win away to Sanfrecce Hiroshima - Hiroshima’s Hayato Araki thought he’d rescued a point for Hiroshima in the 86th minute after cancelling out Marcinho’s 50th-minute opener, but Asahi Sasaki rifled in in the first minute of injury time to seal the glory for Kawasaki-F - and Avispa Fukuoka and Tokyo Verdy drew 0-0.
