Marinos make final push for the top against Niigata

Yokohama F·Marinos have two matchweeks left to make up two points in their bid to capture a second consecutive Meiji Yasuda J1 League title, and that begins on Friday at 7 pm JST when they take on Albirex Niigata in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.

The Tricolor trail Vissel Kobe by two points, so they do not control their own fate, but the Ushi do play a good Nagoya Grampus side this week before traveling to Gamba Osaka next week. Those are two tricky matches that the league leaders could drop points in, allowing Marinos to have a chance at the title, but the Tricolor have to do their part by taking maximum points themselves.

It won’t be easy for Marinos, who know how dangerous Niigata can be. Albi came from behind to defeat the Tricolor, 2-1, when they met earlier this season and they’re in even better form now, having gone unbeaten in their last seven matches. That is what stands between Marinos and a chance at the title, putting all the pressure on their excellent team to rise to the challenge.

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top leagues to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
