Matsumoto Yamaga managed to eke out a 3-2 victory at Shonan Bellmare in Saturday’s Emperor’s Cup third round match.
Shunsuke Kikuchi gave the hosts the advantage after 14 minutes, but the Nagano side drew even just four minutes later thanks to Naoki Maeda’s drive.
The tide continued turning after the break as goals from Obina and Jun Ando helped Yasuharu Sorimachi’s men to a 3-1 lead.
And though Kaoru Takayama’s 83rd-minute effort did ensure a nervous few closing minutes for the visitors, the forward’s consolation goal was ultimately not enough to bring Bellmare back into the game.
Yamaga therefore advance to the fourth round of the competition for the third time in their history, and the club’s first as a member of the J.League.
