Vissel Kobe on Friday announced that injured striker Leandro will return to his native Brazil in order to recover from his recent knee injury.
The veteran tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in the team’s opening game and has been told he will need six months for a full recovery.
“I had hoped to be able to accompany the team to our home opener but decided to focus on healing as quickly as possible,” Leandro commented.
“I am saddened that I can’t contribute to the team during my recovery but grateful to receive so much support from our fans.
“I will give my best during recovery and come back stronger than I was before this injury so that I can help us win a title.”
