Vissel’s Leandro named J1 MVP for September

Vissel Kobe striker Leandro was named the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League Monthly MVP for September, his first time receiving the honour since April 2013 when he played for Gamba Osaka.

The Brazilian scored a league-leading four goals in three matches in September, contributing to his club’s unbeaten record.

His seven shots on target were tied for first place in the J1, and the player demonstrated his versatility with goals coming from both feet as well as his head.

“I’m incredibly happy to be selected as a Vissel Kobe player,” Leandro said.

“I couldn’t have done this alone, and I accept this on behalf of the team because it’s thanks to my team-mates, our manager and coaches, and the supporters who believe in us that we’ve been in such good form.

“As the season heads towards its climax we’re still pushing for a chance at the title, and I hope our fans will continue to support us.”
