Vissel Kobe midfielder Jung Woo-young has been selected for the South Korean national team, his club announced on Monday.
The 25-year-old will join his compatriots for joint 2018 World Cup and 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers against Myanmar and Laos in the upcoming international break.
“It’s an honour to be selected for the national team,” Jung said in a Vissel statement.
“I’m sad that I won’t be with my [Vissel] team-mates when they participate in the Emperor’s Cup, but I’m confident that they will advance in the tournament.
“This will be the last national team activity of the year and I want to come back to Japan with good results.”
Jung has been rewarded with his call-up after featuring in almost every match for Nelsinho’s men this season.
