Vissel aim to protect top spot in Yokohama

Vissel Kobe are back on top of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League and that means the pressure of having to protect their perch. This week, they will aim to do so at Yokohama FC when the two sides meet on Sunday at 6:30 pm JST in a match that will be streamed live on the J.League International YouTube channel.

The Ushi reclaimed first place just before the most recent break and hold a one-point lead over Yokohama F·Marinos with 13 matches to play. That sets the stage for a thrilling title race and both sides will need to make the most of every contest if they want to lift the trophy on the final day.

For Vissel, that means taking full points whenever possible. With league-leading scorer Yuya Osako up front, they certainly have the chance for three points in Yokohama and retaining their spot on top.

The Fulie will be giving it their maximum effort and will have the full backing of their supporters on Sunday, though. They are in a relegation fight so they too need every point they can get and everyone in blue at NHK Spring Mitsuzawa Football Stadium will be pushing to take down the mighty Ushi.

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
