Vissel drop manager Nelsinho for poor results

Vissel Kobe on Wednesday announced the club’s decision to part ways with manager Nelsinho, citing poor results.

The Brazilian, who first arrived at Vissel in 2015, had earned a record of nine wins, two losses, and 11 defeats thus far in his third campaign with the club.

“I’m deeply thankful for all of the support everyone has given me,” Nelsinho said. “Unfortunately we weren’t able to accomplish our goals, but as a team we were able to see the improvement needed to win a title.

“However, we are professionals and it’s my responsibility that we weren’t able to meet everyone’s expectations.

“As a professional I learned many things from my time here, and as a person I grew stronger. I want to thank the media for the respect they showed me in their coverage.

It was further announced that coach Takayuki Yoshida will serve as the club’s interim manager until a permanent appointment takes place.
