Uchimura keeps Consadole top of J2 League

The 14th round of the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League ended as it began, with Consadole Sapporo on top of the table following a 1-0 win at Kamatamare Sanuki.

Yoshihiro Uchimura scored shortly before halftime, giving the team their fifth 1-0 win in a row with their last three victories all coming on the road.

Fagiano Okayama rose to second place with a come-from-behind 2-1 win against Ehime FC. The visitors took the lead through Takashi Kondo in the 45th minute, but Fagiano’s Soichi Tanaka equalised with Shingo Akamine providing the game-winner five minutes from full time.

Both goals in the 1-1 draw between Yokohama FC and Cerezo Osaka came in the final five minutes of regulation, with Atsushi Ichimura’s effort swiftly negated by Bruno Meneghel shortly before stoppage time.

A pair of Takagis took centre stage in Tokyo Verdy’s 2-1 win over Shimizu S-Pulse, with brothers Daisuke and Yoshiaki shutting down the visitors late in the first half.

The game-winner was a bittersweet one for Yoshiaki, who is currently on loan from S-Pulse.
