Tokyo’s Abe moves to K-League

FC Tokyo on Monday announced the full transfer of striker Takuma Abe to South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai.

The 29-year-old, who joined Tokyo last season, has 10 appearances in the 2017 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League campaign as well as three goals from seven appearances in the J.League YBC Levain Cup.

“It’s only been a year and a half, but I want to thank everyone for all of your support. I struggled with injuries and wasn’t able to support the team, but I never gave up thanks to your support,” Abe said.

“I made this decision because I strongly want to challenge myself. I want to apply my experiences at FC Tokyo to my new club and do my best.”

The move is Abe’s second attempt to play overseas after he spent the 2013-14 season at Germany’s VfR Aalen.
