FC Tokyo on Wednesday announced that their forward Nathan Burns has been called up for Australia’s upcoming 2018 World Cup qualifier.
The reigning Asian Cup champions will face Jordan away on October 8, in what will be their only fixture of the next international break.
“I’m always happy to have been chosen for the national team and it’s an incredible honour,” Burns said in a club statement.
“Jordan will be a tough match so I want to play hard.”
Burns has been rewarded for his form since joining Tokyo in July, the 10-time Australia international contributing two goals in eight MEIJI YASUDA J1 League appearances.
