Tokyo sign defensive veteran Komano

FC Tokyo on Tuesday announced the arrival of Jubilo Iwata full-back Yuichi Komano.

The 34-year-old has made over 350 appearances in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League, and will bring a vast amount of experience to the capital club’s rearguard.

New coach Hiroshi Jofuku will attempt to guide them beyond the AFC Champions League play-offs when the new season begins, and will turn to his new signing’s leadership to assist them.

“I’ve come to FC Tokyo to aim for an even higher level under Jofuku,” Komano said. “I will work hard to be recognised by our supporters.”

The veteran is an experienced Japan international, collecting 78 caps for the Samurai Blue and representing his nation at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
