FC Tokyo on Tuesday completed the signing of goalkeeper Yota Akimoto from Shonan Bellmare.
The 28-year-old started all 34 games in the 2015 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League campaign, helping Bellmare to an impressive eighth-place finish in their return to the top flight.
“I want to play hard in order to bring a new influence to the team and give it my all to help FC Tokyo win,” Akimoto said.
The newly-signed custodian is expected to alleviate pressure on what has been a problem position for the capital club.
Shuichi Gonda had been ruled out for an indefinite period earlier in the season, while backup Vlada Avramov failed to impress.
