FC Tokyo have renewed their contract with manager Yoshiyuki Shinoda for the 2017 season, the club announced on Friday.
The 45-year-old came on in July following former manager Hiroshi Jofuku’s dismissal, accumulating an impressive record of eight wins and just two losses in 12 matches over the latter stretch of the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League season.
“We were able to finish the season well thanks to the support of our fans,” Shinoda said. “Now we have to focus again and concentrate all of our efforts on winning one match at a time.”
Tokyo’s next match comes on Wednesday when they host Honda FC in the Emperor’s Cup Round of 16.
