Tokyo inspired by Okubo brace

FC Tokyo climbed into fourth place in the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League with a 2-0 win at Vegalta Sendai, secured by Yoshito Okubo’s brace.

The veteran striker struck in each half to move the capital side level on 19 points - level with Urawa Reds and Gamba Osaka as the chasing pack behind leaders Kashima Antlers grows.

Meanwhile, Jubilo Iwata’s 0-0 draw at Sagan Tosu allowed Jubilo Iwata to close within a point of the latter with a 1-0 win over Yokohama F. Marinos.

Daichi Kamada netted the early winner and the home side held out against F. Marinos pressure to leapfrog their opponents in the table.
