FC Tokyo on Saturday announced the retirement of goalkeeper Tatsuya Enomoto, who will join the club’s coaching staff.
The 37-year-old, who joined Yokohama Marines in 1997 from Urawa Gakuin High School, took part in two J.League championships and played for Visual Kobe, Tokushima Vortis and Tochigi SC before arriving at Tokyo.
“I want to thank everyone, from the club chairmen and team officials to the supporters and my fellow players, of all the clubs I’ve belonged to over the last 20 years,” Enomoto said.
“Just as I did as a player, I want to approach my new role as coach with the goal of progressing every day and I look forward to taking this journey with everyone at FC Tokyo.”
He hangs up his boots with 223 J1 League appearances, 60 J2 League appearances, and seven J3 League appearances.
