Takumu Kawamura wins Konami Goal of the Month for electric run and finish

Takumu Kawamura has been awarded the Konami Goal of the Month for June, a deserved honor for his lung-busting run and finish.

Sanfrecce Hiroshima held a 2-1 lead over Kyoto Sanga in the waning minutes of their Matchweek 16 clash and were simply trying to hold on for full points. That’s where Kawamura decided to put the match to bed.

Kawamura picked up the ball well inside his own half, turned, took a look at goal and made a beeline for it. He skipped by one would-be defender, muscled off another and then raced past two more, putting him in all alone with the goalkeeper, who he beat with a clinical finish.

The Konami Goal of the Month in J2 was one for the ages, as Mito HollyHock teammates combined with a clever juggle, popped up pass and head down towards Kaito Umeda. Umeda did the rest, hitting a bomb on the full volley that went over the keeper, fell down, clipped the underside of the crossbar and found the back of the net.

Finally, the top goal in J3 went to FC Ryukyu’s Haruto Shiraj, who had an incredible run that saw him take the ball in his own box and rush the length of the field before finishing.
