Sanga and Cerezo draw in thriller

Kyoto Sanga and Cerezo Osaka saved it all for the final third of the match in a wild 3-3 draw that summed up the 26th round of the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League.

Hosts Sanga raced out to a 3-0 lead in a five minute span beginning in the 63rd minute which featured goals from Shunya Suganuma, Sergio Escudero and former Japan international Koji Yamase.

But Cerezo fought back from the deficit, with Tatsuya Yamashita scoring in the 75th minute and Kenyu Sugimoto finding the back of the net just one minute later before tying the match in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

At K’s Denki Stadium, Vietnamese striker Nguyen Cong Phuong made his starting debut in Mito Hollyhock’s 3-0 win over struggling Zweigen Kanazawa. 

The 21-year-old put in his longest shift of the season, coming off in the 53rd minute before teammates Ryoji Fukui, Shu Hiramatsu, and Kazuhiro Sato gave the fans plenty to cheer about.

Meanwhile, leaders Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo extended their unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win at Renofa Yamaguchi. 

Ken Tokura and Julinho both scored in the first half, while Miyuki Hidetoshi made it close for the hosts when he cut the deficit in half in the 68th minute.
