Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Thursday announced the full transfer of defender Tsukasa Shiotani to UAE club Al Ain.
The 28-year-old joined the club in 2012, contributing to all three of Sanfrecce’s J1 League titles and Super Cup wins. He was named to the J.League’s Best XI in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
“I struggled with the idea to leave Sanfrecce Hiroshima while the team is struggling, but as a player I have to make a decision I won’t regret.” Shiotani said. “I am incredibly proud of my time here and will treasure those memories.
“I believe that Sanfrecce can escape the situation they’re currently in and become an even stronger team. I’ll continue to support the club and want to thank everyone for the last five years.”
A farewell ceremony will be held for Shiotani following the team’s J.League YBC Levain Cup Playoff Stage first-leg match against FC Tokyo on June 28.
