Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Wednesday revealed that Kosei Shibasaki will miss six weeks after damaging his left hamstring.
The midfielder sustained the injury when he lined up for a shot in Sanfrecce’s 2-1 victory at Urawa Reds on matchday 3 of the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League’s second stage last Sunday.
As a result, the 30-year-old had to be replaced in the 12th minute, although his team still managed to clinch the three points through strikes from Takuma Asano and Toshihiro Aoyama.
Shibasaki ranks third amongst Sanfrecce’s top scorers this season with five goals from 19 appearances so far, a career-best.
Hajime Moriyasu’s men sit top of the table after recording a perfect start to the second stage with three consecutive wins.
