Sanfrecce earn first ACL win

Sanfrecce Hiroshima found their footing in the AFC Champions League with a 3-0 home victory against Thailand’s Buriram United.

Takuma Asano contributed a pair of goals midway through the match while Kohei Shimizu added his own name to the scoreboard in the 81st minute.

The result brings Sanfrecce up to third place in Group F with three points behind China’s Shandong Luneng and South Korea’s FC Seoul.

Meanwhile, Urawa Reds took an important point in a 2-2 draw at Guangzhou Evergrande.

The defending ACL champions established an early 2-0 lead thanks to a brace by Ricardo Goulart.

But the Reds fought back, with Yuki Muto scoring in the 30th minute and his substitute Shinzo Koroki netting the equaliser just before full time.

The Reds are now in second place in Group H with four points, two behind current leaders Sydney FC.
