Shimizu S-Pulse on Friday announced that defender Dejan Jakovic has been called up by Canada’s national team to participate in the upcoming 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The competition will determine which team from the region will take part in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Jakovic moved to IAI Stadium Nihondaira from DC United last January and has picked up 22 senior caps for his country since making his debut in 2008

The 29-year-old made his 12th appearance this season on Saturday during his side’s 3-2 defeat to FC Tokyo.
