S-Pulse attacker Tese named J2 MVP for October

Shimizu S-Pulse striker Chong Tese was named the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League Monthly MVP for October 2016 after his tremendous individual performances put his team in contention for an automatic promotion spot.

The former North Korea international scored six goals from five appearances, leading S-Pulse to the J2’s top record for the month.

As of the end of October, he led the J2 League scoring charts with 23 goals and combined with captain Genki Omae to create an unstoppable scoring duo.

“I’m thankful to my team for turning my performances into results and I want to express the deep amount of respect I have for our staff, sponsors, and supporters,” Tese said.

“I will sacrifice every ounce of strength I have in order to ensure that we get promoted.

“For now I humbly accept this award and when we finally achieve our desired results it will be one of many things we can celebrate.”

This is Tese’s second Monthly MVP of this season following July’s award.
