Urawa Reds manager Mihailo Petrovic expressed regret with his side’s performance in their 0-1 AFC Champions League loss to Pohang Steelers on Wednesday.
The J.League representatives, who won the tournament in 2007, allowed a 19th-minute penalty and were unable to find an equaliser despite facing a 10-man Pohang side for the last 20 minutes of play.
“They attacked us [after the penalty] but they didn’t create many real chances,” Petrovic said after the match.
“We attacked very aggressively in the second half, especially after they lost a player, but when you don’t finish chances like we created it’s difficult to win or even draw.”
Reds will resume their domestic campaign on March 6 against Jubilo Iwata in the second round of the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League.
