Performance of the Week: Danish Diamond Kasper Junker bags two more goals for Urawa in Matchweek 18

Kasper Junker has been the league’s best player since joining Urawa Reds in early May, and that continued in Matchweek 18 against Shonan Bellmare. The Danish striker bagged two more goals in the performance of the week as he turned in another sumptuous showing.

Junker scored his first goal just nine minutes in with some opportunistic play, as a bouncing ball found him in the box and he quickly put it in the goal to give Urawa the lead.

Junker would double his tally in the second half, showing off his array of skills and scoring a brilliant goal. First, he took off in a mad sprint to get on the end of a through ball, then he had to out-run the last defender with the ball at his feet, which he did. Finally, Junker found the back of the net with a cheeky chip to complete a full display of athleticism and skill.

Unfortunately for Junker and Urawa, they conceded two late goals as Bellmare snatched the victory, but the Reds striker put on a show to remember.

Junker has now scored seven goals in six MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE matches, an astounding showing for a player brand new to J.LEAGUE. He’s also scored three goals in four cup matches, demonstrating his already indispensable attacking quality for Urawa in every game.

Right now, there’s no one playing better than Junker and he showed it again with the best performance of Matchweek 18.
