Nagasawa lifts Gamba spirits

Shun Nagasawa bagged a brace as Gamba Osaka bounced back from their recent disappointments with a 3-1 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League victory at Kashiwa Reysol on Sunday.

The forward opened the scoring inside the seventh minute with a well-timed run and header, but Yusuke Kobayashi pulled Reysol level after the break with a stunning volley.

Nevertheless, Gamba made their superiority in terms of chances felt when Nagasawa grabbed his second with another poacher’s finish before Ademilson rounded off an uplifting win with Japan coach Vahid Halilhodzic looking on.

The 2014 Japanese champions went up to fifth place and Kawasaki Frontale followed level on four points later in the day, drawing 1-1 with Sagan Tosu.

Yu Kobayashi netted for Frontale with a strong individual effort, though they were unable to hold on to their lead as Yoshiki Takahashi equalised in the 34th minute to ensure a share of the spoils at Todoroki Stadium.
