Montedio manager Ishizaki to step down

Montedio Yamagata manager Nobuhiro Ishizaki will not remain with the club after the 2016 season, it was announced on Saturday.

The 58-year-old is in his third year at ND Soft Stadium, having won the 2014 J1 Promotion Playoff as the sixth seed before returning to the J2 after just one season.

“I’ve been able to spend these three years at the club where I first coached thanks to the support of the people of Yamagata,” Ishizaki said in a statement.

“Montedio Yamagata’s history will continue to be written and I hope everyone will all continue to support the club.”

Ishizaki previously managed the club from 1995 to 1998 when they participated in the former Japan Football League, while he has served several other J.League sides.

Montedio, who are in 16th place with one round left in the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League, have yet to decide on Ishizaki’s successor.
