Yokohama F. Marinos manager Erick Mombaerts will leave the club at the end of the season, it was announced Thursday.
The Frenchman, who took over the side in 2015, has led Marinos to a record of 16 wins and seven draws after 31 rounds of the 2017 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League.
“It has been an incredible experience to work in Japan and discover the country’s culture over the last few years,” Mombaerts said.
“At times we have struggled to get results, but we’ve also been able to create beautiful memories together with the fans and the players.
“My focus right now is not on those memories, but on achieving good results through the remainder of the season and reaching the AFC Champions League in 2018.
“We have improved individually and as a squad, and I believe we can accomplish our objective.”
