Atsuhiro Miura named J1 Manager of the Month for July after Vissel capture top-four place

Vissel Kobe entered the season hoping to finish in the top four for the first time in club history, and in July they moved into that all-important fourth-place spot. For that, and the team’s overall excellent play, Atsuhiro Miura was named J1 Manager of the Month.

Vissel played three matches in July, winning two and drawing one. They poured in six goals, showing the dangerous attack that has paced them all season.

Miura has built this strong Vissel team despite several players coming in and out of the lineup, showing off his ability to implement a good system that the entire squad has bought into. He’s overseen the explosion of Kyogo Furuhashi, who scored two goals in July to take his total to a league-leading 15 before transferring to Scotland’s Celtic FC.

In the MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE, top manager honors went to Montedio Yamagata’s Peter Cklamovski for leading his club to three wins in three July contests. The team outscored their opponents 6-2 in the month, but it wasn’t just the three wins or the dominance that mattered. Cklamovski led his club to a victory over Júbilo Iwata, who currently hold the crucial second promotion place. Montedio Yamagata’s outstanding July saw them leap up the table and they now sit in fifth place, just four points back of Júbilo — a performance certainly worthy of Manager of the Month honors.
