Mitsuru Maruoka is determined to achieve promotion with Cerezo Osaka, after the club on Thursday confirmed that he is set to return from his loan at Borussia Dortmund once the January transfer window opens.
The 19-year-old has spent the past two years on loan at Signal Iduna Park, making his Bundesliga debut coming on as an 80th-minute substitute in a 2-0 loss to Mainz last September.
Maruoka has been unable to make more appearances for the first-team since then, however, and is set to rejoin Cerezo as part of Kiyoshi Okuma’s plans to secure promotion back to the MEIJI YASUDA J1 League.
“Thank you for all the support you have sent me,” the midfielder said, addressing fans on the club’s official website.
“I will do my best for this club and help the team as much as possible. I hope to be a driving force in the bid for promotion next season.”
Cerezo were on the brink of earning passage back to the top-flight this term, only falling at the final hurdle in the promotion play-off against Avispa Fukuoka.
