Marinos continue chase for the top on visit to Niigata

Yokohama F·Marinos’ pursuit for another Meiji Yasuda J1 League title is in full flight and it will take continued excellent play to catch table topping Vissel Kobe. That puts full pressure on the Tricolor to get the best of Albirex Niigata when the two sides meet on Sunday at 1:30 pm JST in a match that will be streamed on the J.League International YouTube channel.

Marinos enter the weekend riding a six match unbeaten streak and it’s a run that has included wins over first place Vissel and a draw with third place Nagoya Grampus, so the Tricolor have very much earned their second place standing.

Yan Matheus is hitting top form, joining the always-excellent Anderson Lopes and Élber to form a Brazilian triumvirate that can terrify opposing defenses.

Unfortunately for Albi, they’re the defense tasked with keeping Marinos in check this weekend and they have not been at their best of late. They have only one point from their last four matches, but a win over the Tricolor would be a massive way to signal a turnaround.

The J.League announced that up to four matches will be streamed live each week for the 2023 season, bringing one of Asia’s top league’s to fans around the world. The streams will be free to view on the J.League International YouTube channel in any country that does not have an existing rights agreement.
