Maeda voted top performer of Matchweek 24 by J.LEAGUE’s international fans

The MEIJI YASUDA J.LEAGUE fans have voted and the winner was clear - Daizen Maeda was their top player in Matchweek 24.

The Yokohama F·Marinos forward was spectacular in his side’s 5-1 win over Oita Trinita. Going all 90 minutes for the first time since returning from Japan U-24 duty at Tokyo 2020, Maeda scored a hat trick, picked up an assist and started the move for Marinos’ other goal. He was involved in everything his team did for one of the most dominant performances by any player in Japan this season.

Maeda’s stunning showing came after Marinos transferred Ado Onaiwu to France’s Toulouse FC, leaving Maeda as the clear top option for the league’s second-place team. Maeda left no doubt in Matchweek 24 that he is ready to lead Marinos as they take aim at the MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE title.

Voting for Performance of the Week was done by fans on the J.LEAGUE English-language Twitter account.
