Leandro heroic brace sees FC Tokyo on top of the defending champ Kawasaki Frontale, while Kashiwa Reysol return to the final in seven years

FC Tokyo and Kashiwa Reysol will pit for the crown after winning the J.League YBC Levain Cup semi-finals on the 7th of October.

Leandro brace staggered defending champion Kawasaki Frontale at their home. The 14th-minute freekick saw the capital outfit taking the early lead and another screamer at the hour mark sealed Tokyo’s 11-year-long final round dream. The home defeat also meant Kawasaki’s back-to-back ambition bubble busted.

Another early lead at the Nippatsu Mitsuzawa Stadium secured final round advancement for Kashiwa Reysol. Tatsuya Yamashita’s 11th minute opener proved to be decisive against Yokohama F. Marinos and they have now returned to the Cup final for the first time since 2013.

The all-or-nothing final fixture between Kashiwa Reysol and FC Tokyo will take place at the National Stadium on the 7th of November.
