Leandro Damião has been named J1 Konami Monthly MVP for November and December, giving him the final award for the season. The Kawasaki Frontale frontman’s furious finish to the campaign powered him to joint Top Scorer for the year and that hot streak made him the league’s top player for the last month of the campaign as well.
The Brazilian scored six goals in five matches in November and December. It was a goal scoring streak that took him from several goals behind Daizen Maeda for the league’s leading goal scorer to a tie atop the charts. Not only did Leandro Damião’s terrific play to close the season earn him individual honors, but it helped Frontale clinch yet another league title in November.
In J2, Motoki Hasegawa took home the Konami Monthly MVP award. He scored two goals and added two assists to lead Ventforet Kofu to an excellent end to the season. They won four straight before drawing the final match of the campaign as Hasegawa powered them to a very good third place finish.
