Leaders Consadole halted at Yokohama

Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo saw their 11-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss at Yokohama FC in the 28th round of the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League.

A sizeable crowd of nearly 7,000, enjoying the country’s first Mountain Day national holiday at Mitsuzawa Stadium, witnessed Tetsuya Okubo’s winner for the hosts in the 70th minute, which handed the current J2 leaders their first defeat since June 8.

Second place Matsumoto Yamaga failed to take advantage of the result above them, drawing 1-1 at home with FC Gifu.

Keita Goto gave the Alwin Stadium residents the lead in the 18th minute, but they left two points on the table after Ryo Takiya netted a dramatic equaliser on the cusp of full time.

Cerezo Osaka brushed off their recent poor form with a 2-0 win at Renofa Yamaguchi. Kunimitsu Sekiguchi put the visitors into the lead after just eight minutes.

Midfielder Hotaru Yamaguchi capped off the victory with his first goal since returning to Cerezo this summer.
