“King Kazu” to play on till 49 with Yokohama FC

Legendary striker Kazuyoshi Miura renewed his contract with Yokohama FC on Wednesday, continuing his tradition of putting pen to paper on November 11 at 11:11 JST.

“King Kazu” will turn 49 in February 2015 - just in time to begin his 12th season with the club, who he joined in 2005.

The forward, who also turned out for Santos, Genoa and Sydney FC abroad, also achieved recognition this season as both the J.League’s oldest player and oldest goalscorer in history.

Miura has continued going strong despite his age, with his three goals in 16 appearances this season helping his beloved Yokohama maintain 16th place in the MEIJI YASUDA J2 League.
