King Kazu extends oldest scorer record

A game-winning goal from evergreen Kazuyoshi Miura was the headline-maker in Sunday’s MEIJI YASUDA J2 League Round 3 action.

The Yokohama FC star pounced on a loose rebound from team-mate Ibba’s initial effort in the 40th minute, updating King Kazu’s record as the J.League’s oldest scorer at 50 years and 14 days in the team’s 1-0 win against Thespa Kusatsu Gunma.

Last year’s J3 champions Oita Trinita marked their home opener with a 2-0 victory against Renofa Yamaguchi, with 11,370 fans turning out to see Yusuke Goto and Kohei Isa find the back of the net.

Meanwhile, Shonan Bellmare finished their run as the last J2 side with a perfect record following their scoreless draw at Zweigen Kanazawa.
