Kikuchi and Ienaga delighted with Omiya triumph

Kosuke Kikuchi is adamant Omiya Ardija achieved something truly special when they clinched the 2015 MEIJI YASUDA J2 League title with a 3-2 win over Oita Trinita on Sunday.

The Saitama side were able to hold off the challenge of Jubilo Iwata for their success, spending the majority of the latter stages in the lead.

Victory secures Omiya’s return to the top flight after just one season away, prompting Kikuchi to declare how delighted everyone at the club was.

“It was a very important result,” the defender said. “To have clinched promotion and the J2 title in our final home game of the season was absolutely amazing.

“We were able to accomplish this because of everyone’s support.”

Akihiro Ienaga thanked the club for their passionate support, and praised his team for truly fulfilling their potential in a victorious campaign.

“It’s been incredible to play this season knowing the emotions of everyone involved with the club,” the midfielder added.

“Our results have been a true indication of our ability, and even though it was a close call I’m happy that we were able to win the title.”

Ardija will wrap up their season next with a trip to face Zweigen Kanazawa.
