Kengo Nakamura named J1’s MVP for February/March

Kawasaki Frontale midfielder Kengo Nakamura has been named the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League Monthly MVP for February and March.

The captain contributed to his side’s best start in recent seasons with three goals and two assists in four matches.

Nakamura also tops the league in his number of touches (588), passes (505), forward passes (165) and through passes (23).

“I couldn’t have done this by myself and I want to thank my team-mates,” the veteran said.

“Our current place in the standings is a result of everyone’s efforts, so I accept this award as a representative of Kawasaki Frontale and dedicate it to my new daughter, wife, and elder daughter and son.”

Frontale currently sit second in the table, just a point behind league leaders Urawa Reds.
