Kagawa double propels Dortmund past Frontale

Germany’s Borussia Dortmund triumphed 6-0 over MEIJI YASUDA J1 League side Kawasaki Frontale in Tuesday night’s friendly at Todoroki Stadium.

The Bundesliga visitors needed just five minutes to take the lead, with Samurai Blue star Shinji Kagawa heading in a cross from Lukasz Piszczek.

The former Cerezo Osaka midfielder then doubled his team’s lead half an hour later when Marco Reus set up his second goal of the night.

Dortmund’s assault continued in the second half, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang notched his own brace in the 53rd and 57th minutes.

Their fifth goal of the night came from Mitsuru Maruoka, who is on loan from Cerezo, with BVB’s final strike via Jon Stankovic with 10 minutes remaining delighting fans in the stadium.

Frontale were unable to score against the former Bundesliga champions on the night, despite several promising chances falling to Renato and Yu Kobayashi.
