Back in the top flight: Júbilo Iwata promoted to 2022 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE

Júbilo Iwata became the first 2021 MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE team promoted to the top flight after rolling to a dominant 3-1 win at Mito Hollyhock.

An early header from Kentaro Oi found the back of the net to put the club from the Shizuoka prefecture ahead in the 12th minute and the away team would double that advantage just moments later when Kotaro Omori calmly finished from inside the area.

With a 2-0 lead at halftime, Júbilo Iwata were all but assured of promotion, but their prolific striker Lukian left no doubt when he held off his defender and side-footed the ball home in the 51st minute.

Though Hollyhock would get on the board in the 58th minute via an own goal, they could not muster another tally the rest of the way, and at the final whistle it was confirmed that Júbilo Iwata would take part in the 2022 MEIJI YASUDA J1 LEAGUE.

After a two-year absence, the three-time J1 winners will return to the division they were relegated from in 2019.
