Champions! Júbilo Iwata win 2021 MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE

Júbilo Iwata are the champions of the 2021 MEIJI YASUDA J2 LEAGUE after a 0-0 draw against Thespakusatsu Gunma on Matchweek 41.

Júbilo were the top team in J2 for nearly the entire season, thanks in large part to a spectacular attack which amassed 73 goals and was powered by Lukian. The Brazilian forward led the way with a league-leading 22 goals, while Hiroki Yamada also ranks among the league’s top 10 goalscorers. Lukian also holds the joint-team lead in assists, with Kotaro Omori and Masaya Matsumoto also picking up seven assists.

In the early days of the J.LEAGUE, Júbilo were among the most successful clubs. They won J1 titles in 1997, 1999 and 2002, and were either first or second in six of seven seasons.

Júbilo are going back to the top flight, which they clinched a couple weeks ago, and now they will do so with a trophy in hand.
