Jubilo beat Avispa in mid-week Round 10 fixture

Jubilo Iwata earned their first victory of the 2016 MEIJI YASUDA J1 League Second Stage with a 3-2 win over Avispa Fukuoka on Wednesday.

It was a match played early due to both teams’ participation in the upcoming first round of the 2016 Emperor’s Cup.

Adailton put the visitors from Shizuoka Prefecture into the lead after just nine minutes, but striker Hisashi Jogo buried a cross just minutes later to knot the score up at 1-1.

Avispa midfielder Hirotaka Tameda pounced on a loose ball in in front of the goal at the hour mark to put the team in front on his birthday.

But Adailton scored again just three minutes later to bring Jubilo even, setting the stage for former Greece international Avraam Papadopoulos to net the game-winner with his first J.League goal.

The result saw Jubilo rise to 31 points on the season, while Avispa remain in last place with 16 points.

The remainder of Round 10 will be played on Saturday, August 27.
