Jofuku dissatisfied with Jiangsu draw

FC Tokyo manager Hiroshi Jofuku praised his side’s defending in their 0-0 draw against Jiangsu Suning, but criticised their lack of finishing after the team produced just seven shots.

The late introduction of Takuma Abe created a spark in the attack, but it was not enough to produce a goal as the capital club settled for one point.

“We tried to break them down on the sides,” Jofuku said after the match. “Maybe our attack lacked precision, maybe our crosses were poor, maybe we weren’t taking shots we should have.

“We can’t be satisfied with the fact that we shot such a strong team down; without understanding why we couldn’t score we can’t advance to the next step.”

“This is a good experience for our players, but we’re not playing in this tournament for the experience. Our goal is to reach the Round of 16.

“I’m not at all satisfied with four points from three matches, and I want us in position to earn full points from our remaining matches.”
