J.League teams to prepare for 2016 season with New Year Cup

Teams from across all three J.League divisions will contest the second edition of the J.League/SkaPa! New Year Cup which kicks off this Sunday.

The pre-season tournament, co-sponsored by J.League official domestic broadcaster SkyPerfecTV, features 12 teams spread across three prefectures in local round-robin competitions.

All three rounds will include one “derby” match, with FC Tokyo and Tokyo Verdy facing off in Okinawa.

Kyushu rivals Roasso Kumamoto and Avispa Fukuoka will meanwhile play in Miyazaki while a Shizuoka Derby encounter between Jubilo Iwata and Shimizu S-Pulse takes place in Kagoshima.
